Working for a healthy sea with North Sea Wildlife Trusts

North Sea Wildlife Trusts

We visited Flamborough Head to hear about the North Sea Project, a partnership of North Sea Wildlife Trusts, working together to champion greater protection of our marine environment and the wildlife that calls it home.

North Sea Wildlife Trusts

The work of the North Sea Wildlife Trusts focuses on creating a ‘blue belt’ of Marine Protected Areas throughout the North Sea, protecting habitats from the most damaging of human activities. They work closely with local communities to raise awareness but also to find solutions to reduce biodiversity loss and keep the sea healthy for people and wildlife.

We started supporting their work in 2009 and in that time we have seen the truly collaborative nature of how they work, engaging people across different sectors as well as the local community. This has led to successful campaigns and the creation of 21 Marine Protected Areas in the North Sea since the project began.
